cyberconIQ Kicks off Cybersecurity Awareness Month By Offering Free Cyber Educational Resources for Educators

Empowering Digital Citizenship in Students K-12

YORK, PA –  September 27, 2021  |  cyberconIQ is partnering with the National Cryptologic Foundation during the month of October to build free daily warm-ups and activities for students as well as resources for parents and teachers.

“The NCF is excited about the opportunity to partner with cyberconIQ as we both are focused on K-12 students and teachers. National Cybersecurity Awareness Month is a perfect time to engage students in heightening their awareness of cybersecurity issues and career opportunities. Together, through NCF’s CyberChats and cyberconIQ’s daily warm-ups we’re bound to pique the interest of students,” said Mark Loepker, the NCF Education Director.

Cybersecurity Awareness Month is a month dedicated to raising awareness about the importance of cybersecurity across our nation, meant to ensure the world has all the resources needed to be safer and more secure online. According to the Center for Internet Security, the number of cyber incidents aimed at K-12 students is expected to increase in the upcoming school year by 86%. In response, cyberconIQ decided to focus on the education sector for this year’s NCSAM.

The cyberconIQ team is comprised of both former and current educators. Their mission is to empower students to be confident online by offering resources for teachers, parents, and any other educator looking to expand the minds and imaginations of children. These resources include a variety of mini-lessons that contain printables, worksheets, and videos personalized for students grades K-2, 3-4, 6-8, and 9-12.

Because we want them to understand that each of us can be a cyber hero (no capes required) and make the world a safer place! And what a great way to start, with a whole month dedicated to cybersecurity.”

“We cannot assume that just because kids are digital natives, they understand how to stay safe with a tech device. Like everything else in life, they need to learn, grow, and become empowered to control their digital destiny! We want to create ways to raise their awareness and have fun at the same time. We have engaging mini lessons to learn about data, trust, risk, and even cyber careers! And hey, it’s fun for adults too!”

“Everyone is essential to cybersecurity, no matter what age. That is why I love that we are focusing on students this year for National Cyber Security Awareness Month. The digital world is all around us, and we want every student to feel empowered to make wise choices when it comes to being online. We love cybersecurity and have fun at what we do, so we want the students to have fun too! That is why we have created our lessons to be fun and engaging. We want to get students talking about cybersecurity and their part in it, recognizing that they too are cyber champions!” , said Melanie Spahr from Learning and Design.
